Yes, he is. It hasn't changed the fact that he is indecisive, weak and too apologetic. We needed someone to pull back from Bush's "fuck you if you disagree with us" foreign policy, but not someone who turned into "let me kiss your ass to make up".


Iraq is pretty much over. We'll pull out and they'll start killing each other like crazed crackheads. Afghanistan is being lost because we are fighting the war on the wrong side of the Afghan-Pakistani border. I don't know what the solution should be to that, though - we can't just declare war on Pakistan. On the other hand, we need to be very concerned about what's going on not just in the border areas, but also in the government and society generally.


He has helped it on balance, but I think he projects weakness and that is hampering his ability to present a credible threat of military action to the Iranians. They are rational actors and I think a realpolitik approach makes sense.

He appointed Hillary as Secretary of State. He repaired relations with several key allies and other strategic nations (like Russia and China) that we can't just tell to screw themselves. He seems to have done a good job taking on teachers' unions to improve education standards. He left Gates in charge at the Defense Department. He allowed stem cell research again. He slapped limits on speculation in energy commodities (though I think that's still temporary).


Health care reform, cap and trade, environmental policy generally, tax policy, spending, trying to get rid of union voting if 50% of the workers sign cards for an election, not helping small business like he claimed he would, immigration and border security, energy policy, counterterrorism (particularly his move to try to close Guantanamo and try terrorists in downtown New York)


NO. First of all, the bailout was under Bush, and that was needed. The stimulus was unneeded pork - just flush the money down the toilet, why don't you?


Hell no. Unless Sarah Palin runs against him. Obama is educated but incompetent. Sarah Palin would be ignorant and incompetent, which is far scarier.
