Well not exactly about this - more coming at it from the opposite angle but why are teenage mothers and wayward fathers more common in deprived areas.

the general jist is that it is an evolution thing - animals are evolved to breed more and sooner if they percieve they are in a harsh, unpredictable environment. So in society overall the opposite would be true - we feel safer and more secure. Well, perhaps less right now for some people with the whole messed up economies
