There are a few signs, but some people are just naturally friendly and flirty without meaning to give someone else hope, so it's always a bit tricky. I usually don't notice until they actually do something about it.

Time will tell. Love has to grow. It's a deeper, satisfying feeling and comes much later.

I always say go for it. A friendship is not the worst starting point for a relationship. At least you already care about and know the person. And even if it doesn't work out, as long as no one's fucking up really badly, it may not be ruined. I've been there.

Yeah, it can b awkward for a while, but sooner or later things return to normal, if you see each other regularly anyway and still care for each other.
