This is a classic mistake of the independent voter. Tom Send a noteboard - 30/08/2010 12:35:33 AM
Fiscally, both the democrats and the republicans are saying the same thing.

Well, yes, of course. The difference is that the Democrats are just SAYING that to get elected. Obama is a wonderful case in point. There are hundreds of others around the country. Democrats are not committed to fiscal responsibility and common sense and haven't been. Bill Clinton was the exception, not the rule. Think Dukakis, Carter, Ted Kennedy and the legions of tax-and-spend liberals who also cozied up to the Soviet Union back during the Cold War, thinking that they might be doing things right. Look at our current President, who is engaging in open class warfare, presiding over a creeping seizure of economic control by the state and driving our economy into the toilet by killing off any prospect of new jobs.

I remember he said he was not going to raise taxes. He said he was going to be fiscally responsible. Now, "things have changed". Democrats always find a reason why "things have changed" to justify their continued spending and continued tax increases.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
