It should not open in a new window unless your browser is weird (weird as in EVERY link opens in a new window).
Now clicking the middle mouse button (= scroll wheel) will open in a new tab in most browsers, and I do this instinctively. But that's another type of click.
If someone wants to make a link open in a new window, add target="_blank" within the link tag (so that it looks like a href="http://whatever.com" target="_blank", but with tags around)

Because it still redirects me in the current window.
Like I said though, if I open a link that's below the post (like in Mook's post) and not one that's embedded in it (like in Camilla's), it opens in a new window.
