What are your feelings on this? Do you think HR has any business looking at your personal life outside of work? Is it discrimination, or is it your own damn fault for not making your profile "friends only"?
Share your thoughts.

Well, not in my specific case, but in general. We were only discussing this very topic at the pub on Saturday. Employers are unscrupulous bastards and will stoop to anything, so keep your FB private and don't add your manager as a friend. Your manager is not your friend, ever, they are your boss. Also, when applying for a job, expect them to Google you.
If you're stupid enough to post on FB that you have a raging hangover and have called in sick, and anyone from work can see your profile, you deserve to be fired for being thick.
