banned? What kind of screwed up school district were you in? Also that tells me that you are at least a couple of years younger than me since leg warmers didn't come into style until after I graduated.

The shorts I could understand a little since short shorts were in style for both men and women back then. That could get distracting for myriad reasons. I am not sure if it would be classified as hideous on the guys or not...depends on which guy and how hirsute he was. I suppose the same could apply to girls.

Oddly enough we didn't really have much of a dress code. The fashion of the day was to dress up every day. (Disco was big) :P Mini skirts were out so there was nothing to complain about. People usually didn't wear shorts except in gym but I don't think there was any rule against wearing them since I do remember some people wearing them occasionally.
