1) Which languages did you learn in school, and for how long?

Latin (9 years), Greek (3 semesters), French (5 semesters), will be taking Arabic next year.

2) Which languages would you say you speak with some degree of fluency?

English. With a bit of work I'd be proficient in Latin again.

3) Do you think languages get too much attention in the school system you went to, too little, or just about enough?

Not nearly enough. My actual high school had something like eight languages available when I enrolled; by the time I graduated it was down to three (well, four, but they dropped Greek soon after).

4) What do you think of the remarkable dominance of English that appears in the data?

Given the past century, I am hardly surprised.
"We feel safe when we read what we recognise, what does not challenge our way of thinking.... a steady acceptance of pre-arranged patterns leads to the inability to question what we are told."
