Pretty much the only main machine makers for desktops are these five.

HP who owns Compaq
Acer who owns Gateway
Dell
Lenovo (IBM sold their desktop/laptop line to China)
Asus (A Taiwan motherboard manufacture who is trying to become a major OEM instead of an OEM Supplier).

Out of those I'd probably only touch an HP, or Lenovo computer. The rest I'd have to pass on.
