Re: Are you calling the age of consent laws illogical?

Basic reasons: Sex is a bit thing. It spreads diseases, it makes new people. 18 is generally the age you're considered an "adult". You see, kids are stupid. They can't raise other kids (especially because, in general, until 17 they're still going through mandatory schooling).
So it's not just legal/cultural precedent. It actually makes sense.
Boom.

I get it and agree with it. The enormity of sex is downplayed these days, and kids should be watched out for. Heck, I don't think most adults get it, to be honest.
Problem is, I wonder what makes it "right" in a society where we'd theoretically say Polygamy is fine. We're very wary of saying "right" and "wrong" these days, unless that "right" is saying people can do whatever they want. My argument isn't with you as much as it is with someone considering Polygamy as feasible. I just question why some precedents and morality are okay to break, and others aren't. (in their eyes)
The sword might be grateful to the forge fire, but never fond of it.
Polygamy, why is it illegal?

When potential welfare issues are removed, it's all just a matter of tradition and false morality.

You are also a Muslim, correct? Islam doesn't seem to have a problem with up to 4 wives. (at a time)
