I'll admit, I came on a bit strong in that post Colonel Logain Send a noteboard - 02/12/2010 07:30:21 AM
1. Fifa rankings don't mean shit. Italy was 14th when it won in 2006. Also, France has something that Australia does not: a World Cup, and a second place finish. The furthest Australia ever got was...the quarters? If that?

Leaving emotion aside for a minute, what do you think the best way to rank teams is then?

And yes, the furthest we got was the round of 16, where we lost 1-0 in extra time to the team that eventually won. Not a bad effort, really.

Also, in regard to your comment about crowd figures, yes, thousands out of millions isn't a huge proportion of the population. However, the viewing figures for the Socceroos games were well over 2 million, which isn't bad for a 4-30 kickoff. And businesses didn't have to give staff the day off at all because the games kicked off at 9-30, 12-00 and 4-30 Australian time.

I have nothing to add. I just wanted to be included in this thread.

Why would anyone vote for Australia? - 01/12/2010 06:03:15 PM 593 Views
Because, out of all the choices for the 2022 Cup, the U.S. and Australia are the best choices - 01/12/2010 06:32:08 PM 671 Views
Why would you say that? - 01/12/2010 07:48:42 PM 614 Views
Because they just hosted it in 2002. - 01/12/2010 08:54:16 PM 832 Views
