Some of the comments referring to DISCOVER magazine say that the bacteria is naturally arsenic-breathing, and they grew it in arsenic solution until it began to use arsenic for its DNA.

Of course, I think that's MORE awesome, if anything. Don't know why people are using this detail to nay-say.

It's awesome if you're looking for adaptable life. It's an issue if you want to find life that arose independently of phosphorus.
