Okay. Tashmere Send a noteboard - 06/12/2010 11:22:44 PM
So it sounds like someone may have tried to force their beliefs on you or at least their conclusions and it has left a bad taste in your mouth?

Thank you for being thoughtful and patiently trying to explain what you mean to me. It is helping me to be more open trying to understand what you are saying even if I am a little slow at it.
You get points for doing this respectfully.

I see it all the time. People make decisions based on their irrational beliefs and those decisions affect others. Take, for example, people voting against legalizing gay marriage, or even voting to ban it outright. Maybe their anti-gay bias doesn't come directly from religion, but religion bears responsibility for it. Society, by and large, gives religion a pass when it comes to criticism and justification. This gives people the impression that it's acceptable to make decisions based on irrationality, when just the opposite should be true; any view based on subjective experiences can't legitimately be applied to objective issues.

I'm always happy to explain my thoughts and views.

I just needed to take a step back and think about where you were coming from rather than worry about if you understood where I was coming from. I forget to do that sometimes. Thank you.
