The first version was big and blocky and came first, so it made it look like it was more important than the actual post. This one follows the text and is streamlined, so it looks like it's a feature rather than the primary purpose of the thread.


When you view a webpage, the browser tries to store a much locally as possible, to speed up loading of other pages on the site. Common files which are cached are CSS, javascript, and image files.

If the CSS was cached, and the browser hadn't decided to refresh it yet, then the first update would have looked wonky and bad because it required additional CSS to look good.

The second update didn't require much additional CSS to look good, so those with cached CSS wouldn't see much difference to those with the latest.

Anyway, it's a moot point now :P
