Why precisely are you cool with THIS particular Federal Judge "making his own law?" It's cool when they agree with you?
Courts don't make laws; they decide whether laws already in existence are constitutional or not. This court decided that the healthcare law is not constitutional. To me, that law is pretty clearly unconstitutional, so I'm glad they decided this way.
First, this particular judge made a decision that the personal coverage clause (however to describe it) was unconstitutional. Not the entire bill, but the ONE clause. Second, two other judges have already made decisions in support of the clause. Third, this judge was a paid lobbyist against the bill: excuse me if I find his ruling biased (and by definition, invalid).
Again, it's only "activist judges" if you disagree with the ruling?

No, the courts exist to interpret legislation, and the SCOTUS to strike down illegal legislation.
