Dammit, people, the man repented! "... [A]nd it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge." And yet we continue to call anyone who hates Christmas a "Scrooge," and utter "Bah, humbug!" at the drop of a hat!
