What motivates someone to be the Arizona shooter?

Part of her role is to present the defendants side of that in court, since motive does matter as well as guilt.
{quote}The trial may apparently take more than a year as she calls in experts to try and portray him as insane, attempt to move the case out of Arizona to get a "fairer" trial and every other course of action that may save him from the chamber.
Now, clearly this lady feels quite strongly about her cause (which I presume is to oppose capital punishment).
I just wonder how such a person gets up every morning for a year or more and motivates herself to go all out defending this douche bag who she KNOWS murdered a bunch of innocent people and caused untold sorrow to the families of amongst others the 9 year old girl who was killed. {/quote}
working on the assumption you make that she is opposed to the death penalty, perhaps the desire to make the world a slightly fairer place? She can't bring that girl back but she can stop one more person being killed if she just does her job well enough. Would you rather have a lie in than see someone unjustly killed when you could prevent it?

What motivates someone to pull out all the stops defending the Arizona shooter in court?
