The idea that insane people need "help" instead of punishment to me, is ridiculous. If some crazy guy murdered me because he thought I was the Thousand Eyed Dragon of Doom, I'd still want him hanged or shot, regardless of the fact that he's not in his right mind. And if I were to snap and go on a completely insane shooting spree, I'd fully hope to be treated the same way.


If you wanted to be judged harshly, so be it. But it does not mean that it is fair to those that are. You cannot reasonably claim that a person that is insane has full awareness and clarity of their acts. If you wanted to be treated that way, so be it. Make your own country, with your own laws, from your own opinion. But under the constitution of the USA, if he is found insane, this man is protected from capital punishment and jail time because of his mental instability.
