Because he's LOST big games as a direct result of things he actually DID. Joel Send a noteboard - 08/02/2011 04:56:00 PM
Come on now if you are going to judge QBs by how many SBs they have won no matter how well the actaully played then you have to give the credit for winning one even if they don't deserve it. Rodgers did play a great game and I guess he earned it as much as anyone else on the team.

I don't judge QBs by how many SBs they've won (where does that leave Tarkenton, Fouts, Marino, Kelly, Moon, McNair and McNabb, to name just a few from my own life time?) It kinda nauseates me that people think guys like Phil Simms and Terry Bradshaw were stellar QBs just because they happen to fall into HoF teams. Jim McMahon and Doug Williams were great QBs because they were in the right place at the right time? Johnny Unitas was on the bench with sore ribs the whole time Earl Morrall was leading the Colts to victory over the Cowboys in SB V; would he be a bum if the Cowboys had won? For my money the best QB in history was Otto Graham (7-3 in championships over his ten year career; that's right: Otto Graham was in a championship game EVERY SEASON HE PLAYED, including the Browns perfect season in '48!)
Besides most sports fans really are not that smart and they prefer if you keep things simple. It is eaiser to just give all the credit or blame to one or two players that ESPN likes to talk about then it is to really understand the dynamics of a team. Besides sports fans have to have their heros.

Fine, but if you start handing out titles based on a preponderance of ignorance you end up with Congress. :P

Huge difference. The bobbled snap against the Seahawks and failure to get even a first down, let alone a TD, from inside the 5? Romo. The picks against the Giants when they won the SB even though Dallas had homefield throughout the playoffs? Romo. Last year against the Vikings was the first time I've ever seen him make really good decisions against really good opponents. I don't think anyone will ever compare him to Marino or Kelly though, let alone Tarkenton or Unitas. Yes, when you do commit a MAJOR blunders that cost your team playoff games on multiple occasions, that's a choke, whether your Tony Romo or Neil O'Donnell (who has OUTSTANDING career stats for the REGULAR SEASON).
