Since he is supposedly the original Dalai Lama reborn I would assume he will continue to be the Dalai Lama as long as he lives. Will they have to choose a new Dalai Lama in Tibet and then sneak him out of the country?
It will probably be something similar to what happened with the re-incarnation of the Pachen Lama. The D.L. recognizes a boy and then the boy and his family disappear (I think) and still haven't been heard from. China then recognizes their own re-incarnation of the Pachen Lama and have been raising that boy as such with all the Chinese propaganda thrown in.
The boy recognized by the Dalai Lama is still a political prisoner in China.
I think that is how the basics of the story go. . . . .
Unmistaken Child is a great movie to watch if you're interested in watching some of the process involved in how finding a re-incarnation. I'm not sure if it's the same every time, but it is still a good movie. And it's on Netflix!!
