Which I hope is partly excused with the fact that we don't have the disease here in Sweden (and that I didn't read the article very careful).
With that said, I'd like to point out that
-Squirrels are curious animals and can become more or less fearless of humans (although the one in the video puts up some red flags with its behaviour)
-Squirrels are almost never carriers of rabies
-There is not one single case of a squirrel attacking and infecting a human with rabies (as far as I know)
-There is a vaccine if you do get bitten.
-I have been bitten by a squirrel. It didn't draw blood, and I very much doubt that it could get through a pair of gloves. But they have nasty claws, so the combination might be a bit hazardous.
-If the cop thought it was rabid, why the hell did he use the pepper spray and then just stand and look at it? Either he should catch it in a box or something and wait for animal control or whatever people have jurisdiction on such cases to come and get it or he should have killed it as fast as he could.
