British is a nationality (sort of). English is a race, Scottish is a race, Welsh is a race. Irish is a race. British is sort of a nationality since people usually mean "people from the United Kingdom", which is a sovereign nation. Great Britain is considered a "nation" in the bizarre logic of overlapping notions of identity that plague the British isles, but by my definition the UK is a nation and Great Britain isn't. Of course Tim will say "But according to the law of the Queen's Brown Dog, even though the United Kingdom is the greater political entity, Northern Ireland devolved all of its representation to the Queen's Special Exchequer for Berwick and the Isles of Jersey and Man, who in turn is a functionary of the smaller entity of Great Britain, and so British IS a nationality."
