It seems crazy but if you are a 14 year old living in Dayton Ohio you don't remember 9-11 and you may not know much more about it than what you see on little news clips and then the only part you watched were the ones with burning buildings. Some kids never watch any news at all and schools don't cover recent history. I didn't know much about the Vietnam war when I was a kid because I was to young to remember it and I wasn't interested enough to look it up. Since they had never really made any movies about it I did absorb it that way. I don't know if I could have told you who Westmoreland was when I was 13 or even what the Tet Offensive was. I probably knew who H? Chí Minh was simply because I had heard of the H? Chí Minh trail and the term had made it into mainstream culture.
