It's frankly typical for Obama and his administration's entire line of "we know better than you do what information to give you". We saw this in the health care debate, where they said, "You just don't understand the bill" and now we see it here, where the statement is "it's too grisly for you".
I saw this -

We don't trot out this stuff as trophies ... we don't need to spike the football."
which is a different thing from grown ups can't handle it and is rather that he doesn't want US soldiers and/ or innocent people shot as payment for your right to see bin Laden with a hole in his head.
