It's frankly typical for Obama and his administration's entire line of "we know better than you do what information to give you". We saw this in the health care debate, where they said, "You just don't understand the bill" and now we see it here, where the statement is "it's too grisly for you". I am not a fan of governments keeping secrets for no reason. I can understand keeping the identity of the SEAL team secret, to protect them and their families. But a photo of a dead bin Laden with a big gaping hole in his head? There's no reason NOT to disclose it, and so it should be disclosed.
You're not really paying attention to the debate then. The photos could well inflame public opinion in the middle east, and be used as an additional propaganda tool for Bin Laden's supporters and affiliate terrorist groups. The fact that most Republicans in congress are supporting the decision reflect that both sides share that concern.
Let's be honest here, there's really nothing to be gained for the United States by actually disclosing the photos, apart from trying to convince conspiracy theorists.
His head on a spike?
