I get them very rarely, maybe once a year. They are true migraine according to the neurologist I saw when at uni. This one was quicker than most. Normally I get a lot of warning with my eyes - little floaty dots across my vision for a good hour before things go really horrible. Yesterday I had a headache for a while, and then BOOM. Couldn't see properly. Arm didn't belong to me. Thumping headache. It was awful.


That does indeed sound like a proper migraine.

I should perhaps have been tipped off by the fact that I couldn't pronounce basic words about 1/2 hour before the migraine hit, but that had never happened to me before.

Aura can affect different parts of the brain, even within one individual.

Might be worth speaking to your GP and getting a small supply of a triptan. They are very effective for this type of migraine if you take them during the aura stage or very early in teh full attack.
