With a baby coming it is imperative for her to be able to take pictures and post them online. Also, not having an optical drive will be a problem since she likes to create mix CDs for her friends.
If neither of those abilities are present, I will be in grave trouble.

Maybe a Mac computer / laptop is your best option for now. Then later on down the track you can get your iPad and have all your Apple gadgets talk happily to each other!
