True as far as it goes, but insuffience: Unless we really do shut down the government, the deficit can't be eliminated without raising taxes, just as doing without spending cuts would result in crippling tax hikes. That's the finanical reality the political fantasy ignores but, once again, fantasy is all that remains in American politics.
