When they flout out stated they didn't care about the mix of tax cuts to spending they were not, as you managed to read into it, saying the republicans were crazy and the dems were wimps. They were saying very clearly for anyone who was willing to listen to what they actually said that the don't care how the debt is reduced as long as it is reduced.

True as far as it goes, but insuffience: Unless we really do shut down the government, the deficit can't be eliminated without raising taxes, just as doing without spending cuts would result in crippling tax hikes. That's the finanical reality the political fantasy ignores but, once again, fantasy is all that remains in American politics.
