there was a perception that he was vulnerable random thoughts Send a noteboard - 15/08/2011 04:48:41 AM
Like I said Perry is not wildly popular in Texas but then again what politician is these days? Texas doesn't tend to keep governors very long so some thought we would want change for the sake of changes. Also there was some grassroots grumble about a proposed superhighway that would have claimed a lot of land and there were some people upset that he had tried to have girls vaccinated against HPV. The problem is when KBH tried to campaign on these issues instead of putting forward any kind of vision of her own her numbers took a nose dive. Turned out the highway issue was to complicated to use in a campaign and only two groups really cared about the vaccination issues. Far left nutters sprinkled with Ron Paul supporters saw it as some kind of conspiracy and far right evangelical nutters thought that since HPV is sexuality transmitted it would encourage kids to have sex. It never really grew beyond that small group, his ability to side step controversy is one of the things about Perry that remind me of Clinton.

I personally supported KBH in the primary because I think Perry is to conservative but once it was down to him and White it was a no-brainer.

I think the biggest thing they can go after Perry on is letting a foreign company run some toll roads, that was very unpopular here, but that is nothing compared to Romneycare. I could be wrong and there could more anti-Texas fever out there then I think but it hasn't stopped people from moving here in mass. I believe you come from a deep blue state and I do think it will hurt him there but I am not sure it will hurt that much in Ohio or Florida.
