Half of the problem with this stuff is that both sides point to the other side doing it, and then pretend that they don't. Posts like Joel's exacerbate the problem, but you've done it, too. Even in responding to Joel here in this very thread, both you and Isaac have done what he did, overstating his argument. The linked arguments don't give Obama credit for the riots, they just say he would approve and wants the same to happen here. Still ridiculous, but definitely an overstatement. Joel, meanwhile, is trying to call right wingers out on the carpet for supporting the people who make such claims. He has never once said that all Right Wingers are terrorists, but damned if that isn't what you hear.

So drop the outrage, all it does is feed the machine that profits from, and creates more of, the whackos on the fringes of BOTH sides. The argument is infinitely more complex than "Left Bad, Right Good," and vice versa.
