I know statistically crime is down but there seems to be a growing level of anger and lawlessness in some parts of the country. With flashmobs raiding stores and attacking people at random there are certain parts of this country I wouldn't take my family to. I don't know if I will let my wife take my daughter to the State Fair this year because it is in a bad part of town. I know I won't want her riding the train like last year. The really scary part is she will tell me to go to hell when I tell she can't go and then I will have to go along and I loath the fair. Logically I know the danger is tiny but I got caught in a bit of mob scene in Florida once with my niece and my sons and it is very ugly when you suddenly realize the only way you can protect your family is to just flee.
