It's that it even occured for us at all. We had a smaller one than the 5+ one a year or so earlier - it woke me up out of a sound sleep and the only thought that went through my head was that someone moved my bed to California while I was asleep ;) ...

I was almost disappointed because it would've been a cheap (and quick) trip to Cali w/o any need for my involvement - instead I just went back to bed and resumed living in quiet NY :P ...

Aaaah...I get it now. Its not so much the earthquake, as the sudden realization that you're stuck on the east coast. I get it now. In a few months time, all of you back there will be covered in snow....dealing with freezing rain...and just generally be cold. I, on the other hand, will have to choose out which pair of shorts to wear with my new sandles.
