Of course if we do tax reform we can make this revenue increases less painful by making our economy more efficient, by reducing the deadweight loss that occurs with our current tax code.


And efficient economy? reforming taxes? What do you think this is, some sort of masturbatory fan fiction where you can make anything you want happen?!?! :P


The only way tax reform is going to happen is this
1) The republicans win big in 2012 or some other election and they can force their policies through, one of which would be tax reform. (You need 60 votes in the senate or the will to destroy the fillibuster.)

2) The democrats win big in 2012 or some other election and they can force their policies through, one of which would be tax reform.

3) The sides duke it out for several elections and very little change occurs in the house, senate, president democrat/republican ratio. Once it becomes apparent that political gamingship is not working, that the coalitions sizes are stable politicans make actually govern instead of just saying we would do so after we win in the next election. Compromise will happen, and we may see reform.

Any of the 3 occurrences have very little chance of occurring ;)
