Can't comment on the rest, but both Toronto and Vancouver have a large ethnic population.


Mostly whites and Asians. When measuring things like crime rate and poverty demographics are a the best indicator. Like it or not what the study finds is that only cities with a narrow range of diversity make the top of the list for livability. It may be a valid point but lets not pretend it isn't there. The take away is that if you want a nice city keep it small mostly white and let in a few Asians so you can claim to have diversity.

Funny that you only count "Black, Hispanic or Arab" but leave out every other part of the world in your definition of non-white.


Funny how you claim I gave a definition of non-white when I never even used the term. Funny how you have also failed to show where any of the cities listed had significant populations of the three races I listed.

I counted those races because cities with high populations of them tend to have higher crime rates and more poverty. If any thing you should have questioned including Arabs and becuase not a single city in their top ten list has very many people from any of those groups.

I also don't think Australia, New Zealand, or Vancouver count as being a cold climate.


Vancouver's record high for June is 87F and its record low 39F. The average high for summer in Melbourne is in the high 70s while in Auckland it is the low 70s. Sorry but I would call those cool climates but I guess you could dicker if they rate as cold climates. They damn sure are not warm climates and some of the others are down right cold.

As for socialized medicine, I am sure that did play a role, as I would think part of assessing the livability of a place would be the accessibility of affordable health care.


Why because you live in a city that has free medical care and you like it? I think what makes a city more livable to me is the quality of care I can receive and since I have good insurance that is higher here in the US than it would be in Canada. If the question was which city is most livable for poor people you might have a point.
