I agree and disagree Amyrlin Send a noteboard - 14/09/2011 09:53:01 PM
It is well known that you are a guy that is 100% only interested in very small framed women - and you even married one. And that's 100% fine. It's what you like, it's what you want. It's what you should have.

But to go all out like this against "fat people" because they use words like "plus sized" and say that they are just justifying bad behavior by doing so? Shame on you.

I'm fat, and have been for a very long time. I ALWAYS refer to myself as "fat", and never any other way because it simply is the truth. You wouldn't catch me in a bikini EVER, and very likely would not catch me in a swimsuit - and I L.O.V.E. the water. I HATE the way I look, and am working on it (with some success I might add), but it's an emotional, stressful process for me.

Every single morning when I've woken up for many years, my thought as I get in the shower has been , I think "TODAY is the day I start this diet thing! TODAY I am going to eat better!" and until April, that lasted until the first big stresser of the day and I had a bagel or fru fru coffee, or whatever. I didn't get drunk, or snort coke or get some other kind of high, I ATE.

Now. Having said all that - I saw this post and thought at first that the last thing I wanted was to see a fat girl in a bikini - but it wasn't bad. And it was VERY SWEET of Vivian to remember that people mentioned not being able to find good fitting clothes and posting this.

I just think that we are all entitled to our own opinions - God Bless America and all that - but your comment was very harsh, and really quite unnecessary - and even a little bit hurtful.

I'm not trying to argue with you - God knows I wouldn't win that - and I know that you are very often harsh and painfully direct, but I just didn't see the need for your extra harsh words here.

I get it. Society has pushed an overly thin image of women that makes women who don't meet that standard feel bad and have self-esteem issues. It leads to anorexia, bulemia and serious psychological problems. Yes. That is bad. Yes. It is good to have women with more full figures in visible places.

However, this desire is now intersecting with another negative tendency in society, and that's the tendency to try to justify any bad lifestyle choices that people make. Fat people are fat, not "plus-size". "Plus-size" means having a bigger frame or a fuller figure, but it shouldn't give obese people license to feel like there's nothing wrong with their weight, because there is. They get diabetes, knee problems, heart disease, and a whole host of other health problems.

If fat people want to go out and put on skimpy clothes, fine. Let's just call a spade a spade, though, and say, "Bikinis for fat women!"
Amy

By the way, I miss you too.~KB
