This is a terrible idea, it doesn't take much imagination to see the what profoundly bad effects it would have on both micro and macro scales. Just accept that a pure flat tax is a theoretical fantasy thing. The best we can do is have some taxes that are regressive and some that are progressive.
You may have missed where I said I wasn't a fan of a purely sales tax approach, I am merely pointing out that one can treat banking as a product and service, which is self-evident I would think. I'm also not really looking to get into another argument for the sake of argument with you. I favor, and have said as much on the board many times, a mixture of taxation types.
[Oh and if there was a savings tax the savvy rich folk would have minimal savings, they would just "buy" goods that are liquid and store money that way. And a quick google search tells me that there is no sales tax on gold]
That's rather irrelevant, one can simply place a tax on it, I wouldn't favor it but that's beside the point
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
