... that the nerdy thing he was talking about wasn't his toothbrush collection, but his quotation of Jayne from the sci-fi movie Serenity (based on Firefly) in order to explain them. Thus my grenade quote, which comes later in the same sequence from the character after he's denied some of his collection of weapons.

That makes far more sense, and would probably make still more sense if I knew much more about Firefly than (most of) the cast members.
