I've been to the protests in NYC and DC. What do you mean by "they're not at all peaceful?" My experiences mostly just consisted of people shouting.
I'll just roll my eyes at you using the term "Mary Jane," and continue.
Here is the value, the boiled down message, that I said in my post:
The things I listed- the bailouts, corporate personhood, the rest- were off-the-cuff examples of that message.
There are NOT laws against most of the things people have complained about. There are plenty of corporation-linked donations to campaign re-election funds. There aren't laws against massive government bailouts.
Even when there are laws, they often don't matter. If Citibank makes a profit of a billion, and then eventually has to pay fines of millions, do you think that's going to stop equally shady dealings in the future?
There are plenty of examples to list. And you didn't answer my question. Do you think that banks and corporations have no interest in politics, and have not been trying to exert their influence? Or do you know that they do, and don't mind?
Seriously- do you? If your position is "Oh, of course they have their hand in politics and I am fine with them spending millions to make sure "their" candidate is voted in," then at least I'll know where we disagree.
And my point about the massive crowds of people, all over the world protesting, was this: If this many people, in this many parts of the world, are this upset over something, then maybe there's a deeper problem than "they're lazy."

The Occupy protests are protesting the level of power corporations have, specifically the level of power they have over the government.

I amuse myself.
