We have different icing. It is not typically a very dense, flat sheet of solid icing. Like fondant. nossy Send a noteboard - 04/12/2011 07:46:41 PM
I'm sure some people have cake at Christmas, but cake should be for birthdays. And our cakes are typically a little different than what you do here. We don't have a sheet of icing, for one thing. Pie definitely wins. And fudge, brownies and cookies.

Since when? Not all cakes have icing, but many do.

Most of the american cakes I've encountered have had a fluffier icing applied to them with a knife or icing spatula. Not a sheet of thick sweetness rolled over the top like dough. To be fair, I don't know if that is the main type of icing in the UK, but it is what I have seen so far.
