They'd wonder why you didn't elope rather than tease people with the possibility they could attend. 

I got married on a Thursday afternoon, but only immediate family was invited (and we made it clear they weren't obligated to be there if it was any sort of hardship). Then we had a small reception for extended family and friends that weekend.
