Very Often. Jonielle Send a noteboard - 25/09/2009 07:38:12 PM
I'm astounded at the level of partisanship in politics today. When I was growing up, people would generally support one party over the other, but rarely did people agree 100% with what their party of affiliation said.

These days, it seems that there is an almost religious devotion to political parties. If a proposal comes from the opposing party, it must ipso facto be wrong, worthy of scorn and anathema to everything that is good and right in the world.

At the same time, we know that it's impossible for one side to ALWAYS be right and the other side to ALWAYS be wrong. So...my survey:

1. Do you believe your political party is ALWAYS right?

No.

2. a) If so, why? b) If not, where do you think your political party is/has been wrong?

The party I vote for do not believe nuclear power to be the only realistic alternative at the moment which I do. However I agree with them that a better energy source need to be found. The party is also too liberal when it comes to drug policy. It don't believe in grades in school which I think is stupid. And their policy when it comes to punishment for crimes is too lax. I do not like who they work together with, however I see why it is necessary to be able to get some of the most important things through.

3. Do you think that partisan politics have become too contentious?

I think these questions are most suitable for the US which I assume you meant them to be.

I don't think I know anyone here who agrees with the party they vote for 100%. I agree with the Liberal party on some points, with the Christian democratic party on some points, etc. However I vote for the left party.
