I can dig THAT. Joel Send a noteboard - 13/02/2012 12:32:47 PM
I want to say my biggest problem with Obama is that he's not the FDR I was hoping for. So it's all the more disappointing that he's not even the regular old Obama I was expecting. But yeah, he could definitely have done worse. I just... don't want a president who could have done worse; I want one who kicks ass. I mean, the president is theoretically the best of the best in America. I don't want "could have done worse" to be our best.

My greatest ire is because he did not even try. Carter tried and failed, and LBJ largely did, too; even Clinton made sporadic efforts. Obama spent virtually the entire first year of his presidency handing bankrupt and often feloniously fraudulent industries no strings bailouts. Then he finally got around to a "universal healthcare" law he let other people write and negotiate, that merely hands yet another big industry (private insurance) yet another trillion dollars of taxpayer money, while requiring BY LAW everyone buy their product at any price they name.

Just this week Obama finished the job with aid to "struggling homebuyers" that disqualifies anyone who has missed ANY loan payment, and goes first to those needing the LEAST help. By the time people in the worst trouble reach the front of the line that money will be long gone. But at least the banks who knowingly issued bad loans to unsuspecting borrowers (while buying up credit default swaps in gleeful anticipation of those defaults) get immunity from prosecution for the estimated million felony perjuries they committed in the process.

He marketed himself as FDR, with a little LBJ arm twisting based on his brief Senate experience, but it was less FDR or LBJ than BS. Now he is dusting off the populist rhetoric once again for the next campaign, and the Republican straight men know their lines well enough to dutifully shriek, "LIBERAL111" and "SOCIALIST111" again to continue the supply-side gravy train. The difference is we now have a record demonstrating that calling Obama liberal or socialist is indisputably slander—against liberals and socialists.
