I'm astounded at the level of partisanship in politics today. When I was growing up, people would generally support one party over the other, but rarely did people agree 100% with what their party of affiliation said.

I agree. I remember much different Rep and Dem parties growing up in the 80's and even as recent as the 96' election.

1. Do you believe your political party is ALWAYS right?

No party is absolutely right.

2. a) If so, why? b) If not, where do you think your political party is/has been wrong?

I think on the conservative side I have been pretty critical since about 2003/2004-ish. Even though I voted for the Democrats in the last Presidential election I still find fault with much they do because I think some of their expectations are just not feasible. Overall though, I do not hold to really any specific ideologies - I would just rather that if the government is going to try something that they sit, plan it out, take into consideration all aspects of the issue (good AND bad), and really determine whether it should be done or not. So, I guess I would basically like dialogue and honesty. Maybe that's a pipedream; why so many Americans feel let down by their government on both ends of the political spectrum? *shrugs*

3. Do you think that partisan politics have become too contentious?

It definitely has become very nasty. I read some of the comments in the bottom of news articles, etc. and I am pretty astonished at the pure vitriol that people who don't like Obama spew towards his actions. You and others here know I do not play the race card and I hate when others do (usually politicians) but some of it is just blatantly racist - which is sad to me. But, just in general too I see both sides of the political spectrum just really being plain nasty, sometimes over really simplistic things too. It is kind of weird how bad it has gotten, very unfortunate for those growing up in this climate too because they will learn such partisanship in turn and carry it on into the future.
