The concept of the book sounded fascinating: "First colonists settle and terraform Mars." Unfortunately, I found it to be more along the lines of "exceptionally boring scientists complain about each other." I guess I just found the whole thing very slow and the characters uninteresting. Since I couldn't get into the plot (in half a book they did nothing more than invent some algae) or the people, I finally just decided to move on.

I can see how someone would have that reaction. I wasn't sure about it either when I got going, but then I was really interested in what would happen when they got to Mars. And I liked some of the "boring" stuff. :P For example, I loved when Nadia went off and solved problems. It's not exactly awesome, shoot-em-up type stuff, but I found it very interesting.
