I was thinking no, and here's my rationale: beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 14/03/2012 03:41:21 PM
(Let me know if you see holes in this theory)

So, Obama won the last election (obviously). He had a lot of different themes and points in his campaign, ("Change," "Yes We Can!" "Everything Bush Has Done is Terrible," etc.) and he won both the electoral and popular vote. So, in order for the GOP to win, they'll have to be able to steal away at least some people who once voted for Obama.

None of the GOP candidates seem like they'd be able to do that. What can they offer to former Obama supporters?

The people who voted for Obama in 2008(and that's who the GOP has to convince in order to win) generally criticize him for being TOO moderate, not liberal ENOUGH. There are plenty of reasons for Obama supporters to turn on him, but I can't think of any that would make one say "I wish Obama would do this, but he won't, but Romney/Gingrich/Santorum WILL"

Is there? I can't picture a Republican president issuing stronger whistleblower protection, for instance, or closing Guantanamo. What could a GOP candidate offer former Obama supporters?
I amuse myself.

It sure as Hell is, as long as the candidate is moderate - 14/03/2012 03:04:10 PM 896 Views
