Maybe I am beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 16/03/2012 11:57:04 PM
Ugh, maybe I am overthinking it. I just find it near-inconceivable that a former Obama supporter would vote Republican this year. I like to think of myself as an independent, but I can't deny I've voted Democrat basically ever since I could vote (2003).

I think it's probably because of social issues. I freely admit that I'm pretty weak on economics, so it's tough for me to judge different theories beyond whoever's rhetoric sounds better. (That said, I think that statement applies to the vast majority of voters, which is, again, depressing).

But ideas like "Maybe we shouldn't toss every gay person out of the army?" "Building a wall along the Texas border seems kind of silly?" "Why no, I DON'T think that any woman who uses some form of birth control is a harlot." Are pretty cut-and-dried, for me. And while Obama's record on leftist talking points is... spotty... (the lack of support for whistleblowers, for example) any mainstream GOP candidate would be worse.

Should be an interesting election, in any case.

(You and other level-headed GOP-supporters I've talked to generally like to talk about economic issues, which is fine, and is much better than talking about global warming and flip-floppers or whatever. But then there's crap like Rick Perry losing a ton of Texan Medicaid funding ( http://huff.to/Apcr8k ) that makes it pretty hard to take anything the GOP says seriously, because who knows when your candidates will get another vision from God or something?)
I amuse myself.
