It does show how little strength in depth there is, though Dan Martin was born and raised in Britain

and rode as British till he fell out with people in British Cycling.
Yeah, previously the best performances were Robert Millar and Wiggins when they got 4th places.
Possibly Contador, I don't think Schleck was in good form this season even before he got injured and given how badly he and his brother are supposed to be getting on with the team management I'm not sure how motivated he is. I don't think the Tour was that boring though, despite the GC having not been the most interesting due to sky's dominance from the moment they got the Yellow.
When Boassen Hagen pulled off the front I really didn't think Cavendish was going to do it, it looked too far out for him to hold on with Goss and Sagan behind him. It isn't often a team riding for the GC also has a sprinter who can win a bunch sprint, I'm not sure how often we are likely to see it again...
I believe this is in fact the first ever British victory in the Tour? *looks up* Oh wow, apparently Wiggins and Froome are even the first ever British riders to end in the top three.

Still, on the whole I have to say this year's TdF was boring and sorely missed the excitement that Contador and to a lesser extent Andy Schleck would've injected.

It was pretty close this time, but yes, great work by Team Sky in that last stage. It was nice to see the yellow jersey go all out in the final kilometer for the Champs Elysees sprint, too. Doesn't happen that often that a team has both the GC winner and the Champs Elysees winner.

About as likely as him being an ancestor of fictional future character Ender Wiggin.

That's why I went with unlikely ancestor. Spellings can change over the centuries. *NM*

With there being only five Britons in the Tour, their dominance is certainly impressive.
