I didn't expect anything from it snoopcester Send a noteboard - 28/07/2012 10:16:02 AM
Watched it with a few friends though and we all loved it.

Boyle got it just right in my opinion - I don't know how well it worked for non-Brits given the number of British references.

It had a real subversive element to it as well - featuring the NHS right at the heart of it and in a positive light at a time while Cameron is attempting to carry out major reforms of it.

The Olympic Cauldron was superb, I liked the lighting of it by seven young athletes rather than one big, old name even if it does put a lot of pressure on those 7 and having the cauldron made up of an element brought in with each team was genius.

Robert Graves "There is no money in poetry, but then there is no poetry in money, either."

Henning Mankell "We must defend the open society, because if we start locking our doors, if we let fear decide, the person who committed the act of terror will win"
