I think we need to spend more on mental health but I doubt it would have changed this tragedy random thoughts Send a noteboard - 07/08/2012 01:58:09 PM
I think the number of homeless people we have who are mentally ill is shameful and there needs to be a lot more done to help them. I guess if they voted more often somebody would care. I am still not sure it would have helped with this psychopath though. Unless he had committed some violent criminal act and been judged criminally insane they would not have forced him into treatment and I highly doubt he would have sought it himself. If he had been being seen be a professional it may not have had any real affect. It isn't like a broken leg that they can just set and there may be no cure for stupid and full of hate. Sometimes I think we grossly over estimate what we have the ability to fix. Take pedophilia for example, get them all the help you know how to give and they will still be predators and your children will still be risk.

I am really at a loss what could be done to stop things like this. I don’t want the government monitoring and controlling everyone deemed suspicious and don’t want hate filled maniacs deciding that the best way to earn their worthless lives is to take as many people with them as possible.
